Well, we seem to be slipping in the TWC rankings a bit, but probably still likely to end the month above the 100 mark, for the first time ever. Staying in the top 100 is important (to the extent this kind of thing is ever important, which is debateable) because it means we're on the front page of TWC; people just don't read the later pages in the listing. In a few days, Bonobo Conspiracy is scheduled to go into the "captcha" pool on TWC, (where you have to identify a character in order to vote for your favourite Web comic), and that always brings in a few new readers too.

I've gotten distracted from the work I'm supposed to be doing, by NASA's SPICE software system. I started out thinking it would be neat to be able to calculate the positions of Charon for astrological purposes, but once I started reading the technical details of SPICE, I found that I really liked it and wanted to do a bunch of other things with it, too. People tend to stop looking for this kind of software once they find Swiss Ephemeris, and that's what I've been using for my own projects up until now; but SPICE is a lot more fun to work with, as well as having preferable licensing terms, and it can handle moons other than Earth's.

#351: Also zucchini, daikon, parsnips...

Douglas: Okay, so maybe the "carrot-pickle-espresso monstrosity" is funny enough not to need any excuse,

Douglas: but why do they even have pickles and carrots handy at the coffee shop?
Matt: Well, you have to remember that Faye is pretty lonely these days.

Douglas: So? I don't get it.

Procyon: Heh heh. I do.

SPICE does look nice! And it's hilarious that one can't export it to Egyptian, Arabian, or Indian astrologers.

Hey, I see Jen in the TWC question. Neat.

The odd thing is when it says "In case you were curious, your prior vote image was Jen a character from the comic, Bonobo Conspiracy
Continue to TopWebComics" the last bit "Bonobo Conspiracy
Continue to TopWebComics" has the same font colour as the background so it's invisible unless you highlight it. Not great advertising.

I know. TWC really should fix that; unfortunately, it's not under my control.
