Conspire on Livejournal: [info]bonobo_conspir [info]lebwog_feed [info]matts_puzz

For those keeping score: I looked in the Web server logs and it seems the first Bonobo Conspiracy comic image was served at 13:01:49 PDT on September 11, 2005. The time zone is Pacific because my hosting provider has a co-lo in (according to traceroute) San Jose, California. I don't know if the best astrological practice would be to use San Jose as the strip's birthplace, or my own location at the time, which was Waterloo, Ontario. If you do the math on the strip numbers it'll seem like strip #1 ought to have been posted on September 9, but actually it wasn't. I posted three strips at once on the 11th so there'd be more to interest new readers and so I could test the PHP scripts more thoroughly. Three strips means that the cases of "first strip," "last strip," and "strip that is neither first nor last" all have to be handled separately.

When I saw a referral hit from a URL that looked like the URL of a gay porn site, I figured it was just spam again, but it was keyed as being a click-through from the Bonobo Conspiracy ad embedded in my price of gold feed - not a URL I'd expect to see targeted by a referrer-log spammer - so I investigated and it turns out that it was actually a genuine link. I don't know why a gay porn site needs to have a special page reporting the current price of gold; it doesn't seem to have much to do with their main subject matter; but I guess if that's what they want, they're as welcome as everybody else to use my data feed for it. There's no porn on the page I linked to, but the front page of the same site leaves little to the imagination.

The Mate: Cap'n, some scurvy dog on Livejournal is using one of my icons without crediting me as creator.
The Cap'n: Har! The swabs can't be allowed to infringe your moral rights. How many hours did it take ye to draw that icon?

The Mate: Well, if ye count the time to download Photoshop and hook up the video capture card--

The Mate: What's the matter?
The Cap'n: Nothing, me hearty. Please go on.

The tropical solar return of the strip is on 11 September 2006 EDT 21 h 47.7 m. Moon and Jupiter are opposed along the horizon (if you do the TSR for Waterloo, which is fair no matter where you place the birth) and they make a grand cross with Neptune opposite Saturn, the whole shebang standing between 15º07' and 19º17' Fixed. In the 45º dial AS=JP/NE (0 arcmin. orb); according to KdG, "The inclination to live in an unreal world, the stage of sharing great hopes...with others, speculating." But tarum-ta-ta! to the rescue is an applying trine, Moon to Sun in Earth signs. With that you must be able to figure out how to celebrate. "Certainly no one versed in astrology should ever be stuck for an idea" (Dennis Elwell).
