Ive beeb ripped off by these guys as well.. all I can say is that someone who knows any crackers/hackers should do a DOS (Denial of Service) on the site so that it goes down permanently and no-one else can get ripped off.
We should also contact the sites hosts.. im sure they're being paid via fraudulent funds!

I ordered a couple of DVDs from DVD Import in May. The usual thing - a month with the items in Pending and no word, I emailed them, items moved to Packaging, another delay, I emailed, received automated emails back saying items were due to ship, next thing they appear to have shipped on the website, but no confirmation emails received. Tracking numbers are 317s. No responses to my questions.
Now the website's down (as is DVD Soon's) and I'm in week 7 of the "estiamted international delivery of 6-8 weeks". All I can do is email them again, which I have done, using all of the following valid emails addresses:
- service@dvdimport.com
- info@dvdimport.com
- orders@dvdimport.com
- veronique@dvdimport.com
The last in the list I found on a forum, in a thread entitled "Ways to detect Fraud" (!!). The poster's name was "dvdimport". Here's what she posted:
"IF ANYONE IS STILL INTERESTED IN A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS PLEASE VISIT US AT:

This is the biggest load of shit I've read from these people - legitimate business? Very reliable? Good service? Shipping same day?
Give me strength.
Anyway, I thought I'd post this cos at least it has another phone number on it.

I placed 44 orders (1 movie in each. I live in Norway, so this is for customs purposes.)
After 3-4 weeks I received 44 e-mails saying my films were in the mail. A month later, they have still not arrived. I guess they never will.
Is there any hope left?
Does anybody think i will get my dvd's?

Someone identifying themselves as an ex-employee of DVDsoon contacted me by email with the following comment, which they didn't want to post with the form because it posts the originating IP address. They've authorized me to post it on their behalf. It may be of interest.
---start of message---
I have found your site and would like to share the information I have on hand with you. Unfortunately I do not want my IP published on your website as it can cause complications. If our IP would be changed more often I would have posted this as a comment.
All of the employees who were staffing DVDSoon/DVDImport were laid off gradually over the past 2 months. According to a friend of mine the company has been declared as bankrupt once again. What is odd out of the situation is that he noted that "syndic" (the group that is legally responsible to declare the bankruptcy) has told them to leave the website open and operational.
The original incorporated company that started DVDSoon is considered bankrupt. According to the Board of Labor there was not one penny left to the company and they could not even cover their own expenses. However they did note that they are trying to find a way to get some money from him personally to pay for his employees. From what I understand there is a complication with the financial history of the company that starts right about when the company started to have problems (long DVDSoon members will remember the start of the problems through the MGM extreme back order problems). This complication occurred one month after the purchase of a three hundred thousand dollar plot of land in Boucherville which was promptly registered in the name of Eric Guiard's girlfriend Claudia Moreau. This cost does not include the cost to build a 2 story house with a 2 story basement. The above conclusion was made by the employees when Sony came to close the contract DVDSoon had with MGM and Sony Music as "they were not paying". This statement was made in the lobby so that all of the employees could hear.
What does not help on this complication is that a lot of his records were "Stolen" according to Eric Guiard. What he did not tell the government is that they had a company shred information in at the beginning of the year when their lease of 25 de lauzon finally expired. This information has been provided to the government.
As the house is registered in Claudia's name the government cannot reposes the house. However they can obligate the couple to return the amount that was used. Thus the house has been on sale since the original bankruptcy.
I have read on your site that people have been attempting to get the name of the group dealing with bankruptcy of DVDSoon. I can confirm 100% that the employees were not given the name of this group. I believe it was not given to us as a lot of us still had claims for missing vacation pay and severance pay. Personally, the board of labor had to investigate in order to locate the group as well. Even today I do not have the name of this group however I will know once they send me my paperwork I need to sign.
Please understand that the only employees of DVDSoon who were aware of the actual situation were Eric Guiard, Veronique Vincent, and Claudia Moreau. The problems they encountered in the original bankruptcy were hidden from employees under the cover of "try to sell". They had to reduce sales as the prospect buyer was not use to dealing with the same client base as DVDSoon. The remaining employees were simply told that they would be only guaranteed 3 months of work in which they would then be laid off temporarily to return once the sale was complete.
Thank you for reading my boring rant regarding DVDSoon and that crook Eric Guiard. May his daughter be wise and unscrupulous.

Thanks MATTHEW: as usual, you provide excellent information. Well, I guess we begin to get a more detailed picture of the whole story, though none of us should be surprised. Like your contact, I really wonder why the "syndic" has decided to leave the website open and operational. Maybe they plan to sell the business assets to a new corporate buyer.

For what it's worth, as of this writing the DVDsoon site is *not* really down. The front page has been blanked, but if you use a URL for some other page, such as http://www.dvdsoon.com:80/employment-offers.xml , that page is still online. I've seen this pattern before; also the site sometimes goes down entirely for a short time; but it has always come back up in a day or so.

The web site for Dvdsoon has been down for more than 24 hours. I wonder if this is finally it. To those you waiting for a order to arrive, don't wait any longer and do chargebacks. I spoke to my credit card company and they will do chargebacks up to May, but not before. There's a time limit involved with credit cards and it is around 60 days. Kiss orders made in April and before goodbye. I am writing off my $200.00 rebate/credit from last year and hope to just recover recent orders. I managed to get copies of all my pending orders for documentation before the site was gone. Should the site come back, be sure to get copies of the orders if case the credit company wants it. Its only a matter of time before the company goes under if it already hasn't done so. I guess everyone has notice there are no longer any promotional emails from them for several weeks. Another bad sign.

My experience was identical with Rebecca's - I too ordered a boxed set on 29-May-2006 for ~$CAD40, and recieved the "in packaging" email on 17-June-2006. I too logged into the website to see that it had allegedly been shipped.
Rebecca, my advice is to contact your bank and dispute the transaction.

Gram from 217.109.186.46 at Wed, 02 Aug 2006 13:21:37 +0000:
As Matthew Skala mentions above, the site is not entirely down.
If you need to get copies of your outstanding orders for proof of your credit card company or bank, try clicking the links in any "confirmation of order" emails you received from the company. I tried this last night and was able to get onto several pages, including my "Pending", "Packaging", "Shipped" pages, as well as the FAQ and Terms of Use.
However, pages such as the homepage, "Shipping Policies" and "Credit Refund" have been blanked - i.e. they all divert to the same "500 error" page.
I also noticed that the tab on my Firefox browser showed the 500 page to be DVDSoon, even though it is DVDImport I used. The URL was DVDImport. I guess all this suggests is that they have simply copied their 500 page from one site to the other.

I have emailed DVD Soon about 10 times asking about my order, to which I have not received one reply. I don't understand how DVDsoon could afford keeping up this scam for so long! The page was beeing maintained by somebody, and our e-mails (at least mine) were answered. This led me to believe that the company was not all fake, allthough they had really lousy service. I placed my order in the beginning of May, and I read earlier that "aliens" actually got the dvd's he ordered late in May! (I also tried the tip about clicking on the links from my order confirmation mail, but nothing is working...) After reading this page I don't know what to think... Is there any hope anymore?

I had exactly the same problem as everyone else.
I was suspicious when I had 1 DVD actually turn up even though I had specified that all 4 DVDs were to be shipped at the same time (to get the free shipping).
I suspect I only got that DVD because it was physically in stock. They also charged me full shipping costs for this.
I'm still waiting for my bank (Commonwealth Bank - Australia) to chargeback the cost of the unsent DVDs.
I suspect that because 1 out of the 4 DVDs ordered was sent and received, the chargeback may not happen as the order was partially completed.

These people are thieves and it should be obvious to everyone who has dealt with them. If you've paid by credit card, call the credit card company and follow their directions exactly. I got my money back that way quickly and with little effort. And someone should start phoning Canadian newspapers about this, speak to the buisness editors. It's a dirty story about an otherwise trustworthy country.
artemisia from 207.194.61.98 at Fri, 04 Aug 2006 01:34:17 +0000:
Unfortunately, not all credit card companies are the same. My credit card only allows you to dispute charges that appear on your statement within 30 days of the statement date.
Since dvdsoon charges for your order immediately, not when shipped, the transactions go out of date very quickly, especially if you have any pre-orders, or if dvdsoon doesn't ship immediately. (And we all know that they rarely ship immediately!!)
Like many other people, I had no problem with them for a few years, until last fall/winter when they went under. At that time they owed me over $400 CAD (credits and orders they cancelled). After kicking myself quite a bit for having allowed them to rip me off for that much, I wrote it off as 'lesson learned'.
Unfortunately, not learned well enough... :-( When the new owners (??) offered rebates worth the amount that the old dvdsoon owed me, I was cautious and clarified with them how the whole rebate thing was to work. I didn't much like the scenario, with charging the full amount to your credit card immediately, applying rebates as items were shipped, incrementing your credit balance, and then the customer applying for a credit that would take up to 21 days to process. But I was willing to try a couple of test orders, because it was a chance to get back the money I had thought lost.
The test orders went pretty much as expected. They were a little slow, but the items were received, the rebates applied, and the credit balance incremented. When I had about $90 in credits, I applied for the credit on my credit card. Poof, the credit balance went to 0. No e-mail or notification from the site. But okay, I would wait the 21 days.
No answer to my e-mails after waiting for about 30 days. Items are still trickling in from my 4 outstanding orders, so I'm not completely worried. But then they had their 'super sale' of in-stock movies. I ordered quite a few, and received almost all of them, shipped the next day or two after I ordered.
Of course, now I've been suckered back in, and order some more boxsets at those tempting prices. <stupid, stupid, stupid>
And then I do something even more dimwitted -- I cancel an order and re-order the items at the currently much lower prices. Duh! Now they've taken my money twice for the same items!! (Sometimes I amaze even myself...)
So in the end, this time around they've taken me for at least $700 CAD. And I can only request $55 back from the credit card company, which probably won't work, because dvdsoon has seemingly collapsed.
Maybe this time the lesson has really been learned?? I hope so!
Sorry for the long post, but I thought I would share my tale of woe... :-) (I'm in Canada, btw.) [Oh, did anyone else receive mouse pads, keychains and bookmarks with their recent orders, all emblazoned with DVDSoon and DVDImport?? I think that was a nice touch... ;-) Something to remember them by.]

I aswell did the same studit thing.
I dealt with them for years. They were fine i received everything ordered with very little problems. until now.
My brother asked me to purchase him a dvd for his birthday, because i had $60+ in rebates. So while i was at it i found some that i wanted too. by order came to $120 this way i would be able to us most if not all my reabtes. That order was placed on may 10th
about two weeks go by, and their still pending. then they had the supeer saver. So i cancelled all those items becasue the dropped in price. so now i have $60+ in rebates and $120+ in credits.
Once again being nieve, I order more than the original order just to get full use out of my money. That was done on May 25.
Its now Aug 3 i still have not received one item. It said on the site that it was still pending.
I send numerous e-mails, and there was no reply.
I am currently trying a chargeback but i think it may be too late. I think i missed it by a month or so.
I hope everything works out for everyone else.
I'm not giving up yet.

I plced a couple of orders that were cancelled a a cople of weeks later and I received a credit, the prices of the dvds were then higher forcing me to pay a little more for the some products I had ordered earlier. I was then contacted by DVDsoon stating that they were refunding the rebates I had earned which totalled around $35.00 and asked me to nominate an account or I could have a cheque, I opited for the cheque which stll hasn't arrived. I too was once a happy DVDSOON customer, until last year when they started screwing me around. I had pretty much given up hope in recovering my $78, when they sent an email saying that they would give it to me in the form of rebates. I wasn't really happy with this, and decided I would just cut my losses. After occasionally checking back, I decided that because they were still around, I would try to get my money back. BIG mistake! I placed an order mid July, I expected that they would apply the rebates immediately, and charge me the difference. Well, they didn't. They charged my credit card with the full order amount. I have tried in vain to contact these thieves. I stumbled upon this web site, and contacted my credit card company. They told me that they would have to wait until the charge posts to my account. Makes no sense to me, as I can see the charge using online acces to my account. They were not aware of DVDSOON, so they claim, but assured me that they would send out appropriate paperwork and deal with this matter.
Thankyou for creating this site. I have passed this url on to the fraud unit at Canadian Tire Financial Service (MasterCard). I'm sure they will find this quite interesting.

I did have two other DVDs come through in between and an e-mail 4 weeks ago saying a fifth dvd had been despatched. Still waiting. Gone through the affidavit route, all got authorised then last week - nothing. Website down for the last 3 days - doesn't look very encouraging. I wonder if the original box sets were ever sent out ? I'll keep pursuing on principle but would never use them again if they still exist or restart up again.

Fortunately for me when I saw the saver card ( 10% discount ) cancelled and was told I only had 2 days to spend the wopping $12.00 or it would be lost, I knew something was up. Was a very good company Christmas 04, but I noticed then that they were having order fullfillment issues. I backed off thankfully back then when they announced the new company taking over in Aug of 05. I am greatful that this info is available as we were just looking to see if the company was still around. Fortunatley for me my wife researches sites more than I do. Thanks Matthew for making this info available. Atleast when everyone gets the Bankruptcy trustee info you can get in line to possibly get your money back. That is of course dependent upon where the rest of the creditors fall for their money. I think consumers are last in the IOU line after a bankruptcy.

Over here, there's a Vincent Lesaux looking for information about importing his Porsche Carrera in France. He was planning to move in March 2006.

So my guess... After the merge of dvdimport & dvdsoon, he sold the new company back to Eric Guiard and left the country with the dough.

Similar story to a few other Australian consumers - order placed early May, credit card charged immediately, DVDs supposedly shipped over two months ago, no sign of shipment, no replies to emails, website down for 2+ days. If they were not shipped, this is simply criminal activity on the part of the directors.
Stephan from 84.130.66.67 at Sat, 05 Aug 2006 12:08:32 +0000:
@ Simon: If you actually received emails saying that your items had been shipped, you should actually receive them. As far as I know the problem lies with the orders you never get a notification mail for and that are simply switched to "shipped" in your account. Those never arrive.
Good news: I did get chargebacks for the four orders I placed with DVDSoon in May, which were supposedly shipped in mid June. My credit card company couldn't do anything about the 50 CAD in credits and 35 CAD in rebates I still had. But I guess I'll just write that off.

Hi,
as so many others here, I once was a happy DVDSoon customer. I placed my last orders in the end of may (around the 26) and soon got a confirmation mail about shipped items. Nevertheless, 5 dvds were still mentioned as ordered. For those I received a "in packing" mail mid juin (around the 15/16). I mailed them mid july because my (almost) daily checks showed me that the dvds had not been shipped until then.
I was very astonished when in mid july my dvds suddenly appeared as being shipped in end june (that was the reason for my mailing).
Well... ~30CAD gone... I'll try to contact my credit card company but I doubt that they charge back since the credit card has been charged more than 2 months ago...

My order was placed in May 2005, and I was corresponding with the company until January 2006, when I decided to send them a snail-mail letter to an adress given to me in an e-mail. The adress was:

I emailed again and again got no response. After six weeks, I contacted my credit card company and they IMMEDIATELY credited my account the amount that DVDsoon STOLE from me. I'm glad I got my money back. I've learned that I'll only order from better-known companies from now own. Still, I hope the folks at DVDsoon all go to hell for being theives.

Mine is the usual story - a very happy customer with them for many years, having spent several thousands of dollars and not one problem with them until an order I placed with them in late May for $187.00cad did the usual things that all of the above seem to have - in stock, then pending, then shipped but now over 2 months later it has yet to show.
I want to thank Matthew Skala for creating this site for suckers such as us that have fallen for this nasty little company. Coming here is much going to therapy. I do feel better being here.
Karma will get them at some point soon.

On June 18th 2006, I placed an order for 6 items with DVDSoon.com. According to the DVDSoon Customer Account, 5 items were independently despatched on June 23 2006, and the 6th on July 3rd 2006. Previously, DVD's were received within 1 week of being despatched. As of August 7, no item had been received, total value £60.
I am still confident of the items being delivered... but have appraised the Credit Card company of the delay.

I had the same experience as everyone else--about $75 worth of stuff ordered months ago that never showed, no responses to emails nor the nameless voicemail boxes, and only error messages on the website. I called my bank and they refunded the amounts I'd paid using my banks Visa debit card. Just after that the DVDsoon website dissapeared from the Net entirely.
The company must have gone under entirely.
CALL YOUR BANK OR CREDIT CARD COMPANY for a REFUND NOW! This is one of the benefits of using MC or Visa, even if it's a debit card. If you paid via check---I guess you're screwed.

I too have been what looks as though ripped off. I have been advised by my bank that I have 90 days from the day of debit from my credit card to initiate a chargeback. It is however quite a long process. It will take approximateley 14 days to recieve what is like a Statutory Declaration in which needs to be signed. Then I have to send this back to the back before they begin there investigation. Then www.dvdsoon.com has 40 days to proove that the goods has been sent, they then have an additional 30 days in order to re pay me or then the bank will charge www.dvdsoon.com and finally after approximateley 2 months I will have the money credited back into my account.

All people who have lost their money should contact their credit card companies ASAP to see if they can claim a charge back. It seems different card companies have different time periods within which to claim - mine had 90 days from date of purchase. But I have to wait 30-45 days to see if I get my money back. For some it may be too late but you should still try. I didnt need documentation, just gave them dates, amounts and dates of emails I sent that werent replied to

Dave from 207.216.137.138 at Wed, 09 Aug 2006 07:37:15 +0000:
Since the website has been down for more than a week, I figure either the company has gone bankrupt or they are trying to find another buyer for it. If DVDSOON is bankrupt, will chargebacks still be honoured since the bank can't get the money from the company? After all, you can't get blood from a stone.
Also, reporting to the police is useless because they would consider this a civil matter. After all, companies go bankrupt everyday and the police can't investigate every company. In any event, the police don't have the resources to investigate white coller crime unless millions are involved like Enron.
Steve from 203.94.130.121 at Wed, 09 Aug 2006 08:37:35 +0000:
Dave...as has been said... the chargeback process is between your bank and their bank...not with them direct.

My order was 'pending' for about a week after that, then moved to shipped. It's been 6 weeks today since then, the estimate was 4-6 weeks. Last week I tried calling them. The US phone number belongs to some guy named Manuel in California. The Canada number is some Dry Cleaning business in Quebec whose employees speak Canadian French (harder to understand than normal French and only slightly more difficult than Louisiana French) and very little English ... the emails haven't been answered ... Same thing has happened to me.
I have been purchasing from them for years without a problem until the last 8 months or so.
Purchased around $100CAD worth in December which were marked in my account as being shipped. These DVDs were never received and, eventually, after about 3 months, I was credited the money back and able to purchase them again. This time, the DVDs arrived.
However, between myself and my partner we have purchased around $300CAD worth on TV Series Box Sets in June / July. Though some of these have "shipped" (and NEVER been received!), the rest were sitting in a state of pending even though my credit card had been charged for them.
PLEASE NOTE: Even though I had around $100CAD in credit in my account with them, they ALWAYS charge my credit card and have NEVER deducted from this credit amount despite repeated e-mails asking them to do so.
All e-mails regarding these credits and the status of these orders have gone unanswered and now that the site has been shut down I guess there is not much chance of receiving any DVDs OR refunds.
If someone on here is organising legal action, please count me in and feel free to contact me at ryan@drunkenvictim.com. I will do anything I can to help!

Wow - didn't realize how seriously the site had gone downhill. I ordered 2 DVD boxed sets last year. As you're all used to, I waited many weeks before "Pending" became "Packaging" became "Shipped", despite the fact that the boxed sets were freely available in any other online store.
One boxed set arrived, the other did not. After the timeframe elapsed, I faxed them the affidavit and have heard, naturally, nothing. I estimate I'm down CA$50.
FWIW, I've already alerted people to them on other sites and am in the process now of informing people on one of Ireland's busiest films forums about this site. People must be made aware.

Another tale of woe here as well, but thankfully I'm not on the hook for much money. I've got two orders pending with DVDSoon, one from early June and one from mid-July. I was prepared to eat the cost and not fight about it but after reading this page I was compelled to contact my credit card company (RBC Visa) about a chargeback. I was informed I have to allow sufficient time to let the retailer ship the product, so the order from early June is the only one I can dispute so far. They want about a 6 week timeframe before they'll do anything, which seems to differ from some other credit card companies noted here who want actiont aken before a certain time.
Regardless, I've put in a dispute for the first charge and will have to wait to do so for the second. I wasn't led to think one way or the other about the outcome by the credit card company representative, so time will tell what happens.
In the mean time, I've bookmarked this page and am curious to come back to see how things are going for people. Best of luck to everyone who's got a problem with this now-horrible retailer.

Does anyone know if DVDSOON is officially bankrupt? I am asking because my credit card company say I can get my money back easily if there's proof of bankruptcy. I told the CC rep the orders were pending and she told me that can't be a basis for chargebacks because they can ship the dvds 6 months later.
But it's more than 2 months in pending! What other proof can I give that I won't ever see the dvds? She also said I can cancel the orders and get chargebacks for them. Yes, but when you cancel a order DVDSOON don't even give a receipt or email or anything. There's no record of the cancellations anywhere on the website when it was active. Comments anyone? Thanks!

On June 18th when I placed an order with DVDSoon (the most recent being March 2006... this was received), DVDSoon explicitly made the point that they don't send confirmation emails when any order is confirmed, and/or despatched. Apparently, the excuse was that some ISP's treat the email from DVDSoon as 'spam'. Previously, the DVD's were delivered to a UK address within 1 week of being despatched.
When I reported the issue to the credit card company, a telephone call was helpful .... and I was simply asked to submit a letter highlighting the disputable items.
I think, from the Credit Card company's perspective, there is sufficient information available, specifically i) the company refusing to respond to any customer email (addressed to info@dvdsoon.com, orders@dvdsoon.com and even hr@dvdsoon.com), ii) the company website being down since Aug 2, iii) anecdotal evidence (such as this page) suggesting problems with the company, providing the Credit Card company with sufficient evidence to suggest that the company was involved with fraud rather than any item being "lost in transit". If 1 item is lost in transit out of 6 despatched, then fine... it may be lost in transit. If 6 items, independelty despatched, are never received, the chances are they were never despatched.

Well I am waiting for 3 orders and did have one pre order. I have contacted my credit card company, telling them I think the company has shut down and I don't expect my dvd's to arrive. They have advised me to wait the full 6 weeks so DVD Soon do not use this excuse to wait for delivery ( fat chance of that happening it seems ). Should I just call them back and ask/tell them to go for refunding my card ?

I see I'm not alone. I ordered or 63$ CDN of dvd in april 2006 on dvdimport. The items was shown as "In stock". After 10 days, my order still had a pending status. I cancel the order, get the credit note and ask for refund on my credit card the same day througth the website (dvdimport charge me $3,40 for the credit). Wait the 21 days delay they ask for and no refund.
Call CC compagny. They tell me to try to contact the merchant. After 18 calls (always get the voicemail), 6 voicemails and no callback, I call the CC compagny again. The CSR told me to send an email and wait 15 days and, if I don't get an answer, send a complaint to CC customer service. I send the complaint to the CC compagny. After a month and no phone call from the CC, I call them again, told my story to the CSR again. They put a undelivered complaint on the transaction. Finally, I get the credit from my CC compagny 2 weeks ago, they do a charge back on the transaction. It took me 3 1/2 months to get my money back.
I live in Longueuil, Quebec (very close to Boucherville) and feel sorry for all the honest people all around the world that have been scam by this Canadian business.

Following a post I made a week ago, my Visa card has been credited with the CA$85.00 DVDSoon debited a couple of months ago. Phew! I don't know whether credit card chargeback procedures vary from one bank/country to the next, but my advice - get those transaction disputes lodged asap.

Just be careful - my credit card company told me that they do a temporary credit to your card while they investigate your claim. This is so you dont have to pay any interest while your claim is investigated. If they later find your claim is not legitimate (for whatever reason) they may recharge your card. So just be careful and dont go spending the money until you have checked that your claim has been fully investigated.

My friends and I were all loyal customers until one of us, John, had his order cancelled last year and could only use his credit if he spent four times the original amount on a new order.
Well, we all boycotted them after that. However, I gave in towards the end of June this year and ordered a DVD box set. It was apparently shipped, but I have still not recieved any package from DVDSoon.
Oh well. I only lost 11 GBP, which is around $30 Canadian Dollars, but I'm still cheesed off because I can't afford to flush any money down the toilet. I feel terrible for all you guys who lost much, much more than I did.
If anyone out there knows where Eric's flashy new house is, why don't you do us all a favour and burn it down? I'm not particularly bothered if he or is girlfriend happens to be in it at the time.

I was tempted to buy more from them but I thought, lets see how well they do this one. (score less than 0)

I ordered a dvd from them on June 25th last and have never received it. My credit card was charged on 27th June and I have emailed DVDsoon on a number of occasions. On July 1st I got an email stating that they had shipped the dvd. I have had no further responses from numerous emails. Today I tried logging on to their website only to find that it is gone. I found this page by doing a search in google.

Wow, so glad I found your site.
I just file a report with recol.cs, as suggested by http://ansuz.sooke.bc.ca/creative/reviews/dvdsoon.php.
Here are the details of my case:
2/20 - went to dvdsoon.com and bought "The Vampire Assasins" DVD.
2/20 - my credit card was charged 26.92 USD (29.98 Canadian dollars)
I then corresponded with them over several months, where they stalled and kept telling me it was about to be shipped. I have asked for a refund many many times. Nothing. So frustrating.
By the way, http://www.dvdsoon.com is now gone (Cannot find server)

I placed some orders with them last year (as buying CDs from Canada is so much cheaper than here in the UK) and, although delivery was slow, all items arrived ok. However, (perhaps stupidly with hindsight) I ordered a DVD boxset about 3 weeks ago and never heard a thing back.
Also, as some people have said above, the website no longer works. So, I suspect my money is gone for good. I too only found this website by using Google.

I, like everybody else, have been taken for a wild ride by these DVD Soon cads!! I'm only out of pocket around $100 CAD after being refunded about $120 CAD from my CC company.
I've spent some time locked up in Barwon Prison here in Australia and saw some good friends viciously raped and bashed while inside. I only hope that the owners of DVD Soon are caught and placed behind bars so they too can know what it feels like to have a 7 foot African monster ram his twelve inch penis repeatedly inside and around their assholes.

Another one bites the dust! Same old story here, I'm afraid. I followed a link from a DVD review site to the DVDSoon.com web site and was amazed at the prices, which should have been a big clue. I pre-ordered Final Destination 3 and Basic Instinc 2 on 27th June costing 29.96 CAD (GB£ 15.06) as a test but got impatient and then ordered 9 season box sets of Frasier on 30th June for my wife's birthday (last Friday, 18th August) costing 193.86 CAD (GB£ 96.95). As with the others, I received my confirmation emails and my order was shown as shipped after a few weeks but has not yet arrived and after reading this, I don't expect it to. They have not replied to my email and I can't access the web site. My bank is processing the refund as we speak luckily. Just an update on my experience.
I today got my refund from my Bank onto my credit card.
My order was partially completed. I got 1 out of 4 DVDs actually shipped.
I thought I'd either get a partial refund from the bank or no refund at all (on a technicality).
Turns out I got a FULL refund, including the DVD I received. Effectively a FREE DVD! They also refunded the International Transaction Fee.

I ordered two lots of dvd's back in February. I got one order, but the other never arrived. After waiting the 8 weeks I went through the replacement process, but never got a reply. I ended up sending a letter detailing what happened to my credit card company. I am with Credit Union Australia (Card Services). They refunded the $24.14 I paid for the dvd's. That was pretty good, seeing it was 6 months after the transaction. My advice is to send your credit card company all details; include dates, amounts, emails, affidavits, etc. It's worth a try...

I would encourage you all to contact the local Commercial Crime section of RCMP at your local headquarters. There is a Commercial Crime section at each headquarters in every major city in each province (34 units accross the country).
Or, foreigners should go to the RCMP national Website at
http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/factsheets/fact_comm_e.htm
and
http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/fio/ccb/counterfeit_e.htm
(just skip the part about counterfeit as that is only one of the jobs they concentrate on)
According to the RCMP Commercial Crime Website, "This unit is involved in detecting and deterring criminal activity within the business and securities community at the local/international level. This includes issues related to fraudulent telemarketing and identity theft/fraud" and crimes "in which one or more of the following elements are present:
-organized crime involvement
-substantial value or financial losses **************
-high degree of criminal sophistication
-requirement for special technical or investigative expertise
-satisfying public or national interest **************
I think at least two apply to all these forum readers.
If we each make a complaint to the Commercial Crime Section of the RCMP, we can swamp them with complaints (which they have to obviously look into, and according to their mission statement, provide a response to the complainant of all actions taken in the investigation) and they might actually start a proper class action type investigation. If anything, at least every RCMP Commercial Crime Section across the country will know the name DVDSOON and Eric Guiard.
As an ex-RCMP member, I can see from this forum, that there are enough complainants to warrant an investigation; enough information here, great investigative work (suspect names, addresses, etc.) and quite possibly there are other files currently in the RCMPs possession with the same players and different scams. Definitely enough here to get one of the 450 Commercial Crime police officers to look into this matter further.

I must say, i have dealt with dvdsoon for many years, and never had a problem. However when i noticed that they were selling some kind of incentive scheme, where you become a member of their service and recieve discounts for future orders, i stopped dealing with them immediately. This is a well known scam to get your money, and it rang many bells for me. When you give your credit card details, make sure your protected, if your company doesnt give very good charge back and fraud services, find a new credit card company.
It should give you at least 90 days for a full chargeback, and there should be no fees involved, as it is fully insured.
Anyway, live and learn. I hope everyone gets their money back, but you really need to deal with your credit card company, and forget dvdsoon.

I had over $200 lost when they first declared "bankrupt". When they started trading again and offered the rebate, I placed more orders. I received a couple of dvds, but had to apply for a credit for a number of them. The first $25 credit I asked for a refund to my account, they charged my account instead of crediting it. I was email chasing for ages. The end result is that I am owed the $25 credit, the $25 I was wrongfully charged, I have about $100 worth of dvd's that were "dispatched" but not recieved, $120 in rebates and $25 in credit (not including the credit I mentioned earlier). Then to really hit it home, I noticed they charged my credit card about $30 for an order even though I had both credit and rebates - went to the site to investigate, and discovered it's gone. They charged me THE DAY BEFORE THEY DISSAPPEARED!! Goodbye money!!

I noticed the comment by the person who claims to be ex-RCMP. whilst one would like to believe that the fraudsters will be dealt with by the law, I have come to the view that corporate fraud must be a national past-time in Canada. There was ample evidence for a prosecution of DVDsoon Mark I and as far as I am aware there has been no prosecution.
I doubt anything will come of DVDsoon mark II's failure, even though it is abundantly clear that the people behind Mark I are teh same people behind mark II. The original bankrupcy was a sham for them to hide behind. It would not surprise me to see a Mark III sometime in the near future.
Canada clearly has no real effective regulation of corporate affairs.

Finally got a full refund (around £65) from my bank's Visa "Debit" card for all five transactions that I made with DVDsoon at the beginning of June. They even refunded the exchange rate fees.
Hardly any trouble at all from my bank in getting my money back.
I wish I could say the same for my credit card company.
Still waiting for my Visa credit card to refund me the other £17 that I lost after I requested a credit refund with DVDsoon that I never received.
The card company are still claiming that they need proof although I have argued with them that I have absolutely nothing and there is no trace of my request either in the form of an email from DVDsoon or any status of it on their website, which has now disappeared altogether.
After messing about with my card company for the past month or so they eventually told me that they will initiate a chargeback but warned me that it may get bounced back by DVDsoon's bankers.

The 6-8 weeks shipment delivery time has come and gone and no DVDs in my mailbox. What bothers me the most is that recently I sent them a Boxset back for exchange, as the one I had ordered had a manufacturer defect. I sent it back, with all the information I got from them. Has the DVD arrived in Canada? I'm 100% sure. But I never received any confirmation. Hi there everybody, yes I have been ripped off by this dubious company as well. Same story pretty much like every one of you , promises over promises and no movies to be seen . A credit that never made it to my back to my credit card , and altogether about $100.00 missing . I asked myself a lot , how could this happen to so many of us ? The answer is pretty simple , because we all did shop around a lot and thought we found the perfect shopping location for our needs . It almost seemed too good to be true. Well it was ! And that's what should have made us worried in the first place , but it didn't ! The website was just too perfect, to make us suspicious that something might just be not right with this company . In the future though we might have to go for a company that might be a bit more expensive ,but can be trusted . This company for me will be DVD PACIFIC , they have pretty much the biggest selection worldwide and they do have their DVD's in stock and ready to ship . All the Best to all of you !

I too am a victim of this company. I only have about $50 and I gave them the benefit of the doubt in the delays because I have ordered from them countless times in the past few years and they have always delivered. When I placed my orders in 2006, things were slow but I wanted to give them that chance. I guess I was wrong. As I have done with other internet companies, I start with small orders to see how things are handled. If everything works out, I trust them with more orders such as I did with DVDSoon. Unfortunately, things went downhill with DVDSoon. But I still recommend starting small to anyone who deals with a merchant on the internet just in case. Take care everyone.

I had ordered from DVDSoon before without a problem until recently.
On May 29 2006 I ordered some dvds worth CAD$40. They were sitting as "pending" for a couple of weeks and I wrote an email to see what was happening - no reply!
On June 17, I received an email saying they were in packing and would be sent in the next couple of days but I would receive a shipping notification when sent. I did not receive a shipping notification email.
I logged into my account later and noticed my order had moved to "shipped" status and had a tracking number starting (as many other duped customers have) with "PP317".
After reading all these comments I can only assume my money is gone and no dvds will be arriving.... I have sent an email to DVDSoon requesting my money to be refunded but no reply obviously!
Hope there is wider publicity about their dodgy operation and the website is shut down ASAP.
