Episode 15: The World Seen from Kozue

Miki's sister Kozue is jealous of Himemiya, and the Black Rose necromancers use her as a zombie Duellist.

Brief scenes inform us that Kaoru Kozue, Miki's sister from episodes 4 and 5, is jealously protective of her brother and is particularly concerned about a (male) music teacher who seems to be showing inappropriate interest in him.  Meanwhile Nanami is going to fill in for her own brother as president of the student council - Touga is in a blue funk, unwilling to go anywhere or eat.  In the basement of Nemuro Hall, Mikage and Mamiya speculate that swords may have "crystallized" in the hearts of the student council members, and that they could create strong Duellists by putting those swords in the hands of people close to the council members.

Miki goes to Utena and Himemiya's dorm to ask Himemiya to play piano with him; he's quite embarassed, but Utena guesses what's going on and won't let him slink away without talking to Himemiya.  He misprounounces Chu-Chu's name as "Chuu-Chuu" (they spell it "Choo-Choo" in the subtitles to make it clearer for English speakers), and the girls comment that that's wrong:  "chuu-chuu" is (in Japanese) the sound of a train, a mouse, or a kiss.

Jury corners Kozue and wonders aloud about the sad case of the music teacher who fell, or maybe was pushed, down a flight of stairs, and then received a threatening phone call.  Kozue compliments Jury on being perceptive, but says the man deserves whatever he gets for fooling around with Miki.  There's a flashback scene of Miki offering Kozue a milkshake he's made; then we see him playing piano with Himemiya, as Kozue watches with disapproval.  In the basement of Nemuro Hall, Mamiya plucks the black rose.

Then it's pretty much a repeat of episode 14.  Kozue goes to Nemuro Hall for an interview, and rants about how she hates Himemiya as the elevator descends and the butterfly changes into a leaf.  Mikage and Mamiya turn her into a zombie.  She returns to the surface, plays the piano, when Miki turns up she caresses him and tries to kiss him, but when he asks her about the black rose ring, some sort of magic happens, he collapses with a sword sticking out of his chest, and Kozue takes it and uses it to duel Utena.  This time the desks have cups of milkshake on them, which Himemiya drinks one by one as the duel progresses.  Most of the other details are just the same as in episode 14.  Utena notices that Kozue's duelling style is just like Miki's.

At the end of the episode, we again see Himemiya visiting Akio.  She takes off her glasses and walks toward him as the room darkens and the projector lights up; he says tonight he'll comfort her, and she says "chuu-chuu."
