MM> My favorite section had to do with eating records, because it seemed

Remember how Mama used to cook those 78s, basting them with a camel's
hair brush (stuffed with pimento) so as not to disturb the groove? And
the way the cellophane would crackle when you slipped them out of the
shells?

After school Bobby and me would walk into town and stand with our noses
pressed against the big plate-glass windows of the record store. Some
days the guy would come out with a stale one that nobody would buy, and
he'd give it to us to cook on a little fire in the vacant lot. I can
still remember how I liked to bite through the crackly cardboard into
the gooey, melted inside.

Over on alt.folklore.computers there were some guys posting recipes for
doing CDs in the microwave, but give me a good old-fashioned vinyl
record any day. They'll never digitize that flavour.
