This is from last month, but I just spotted it on p2pnet.net: The Canadian Federation of Students is strongly opposing copyright extension and especially DRM. Their open letter is the most sensible thing I've seen emanating from that organization in a number of years; I remain glad that I'm no longer a member, but this does make me think better of them.

Unfortunately, with so much vested interest in extending copyright powers, and so much financial and political power behind the copyright holder and not the end customers, it tends to go in their favour.
