Some thoughts on Google in China

Lots of people are saying a lot of things about Google's recent announcement that they will obey Chinese censorship rules to filter their search results on their Chinese search engine. For a simple and graphic demonstration of the consequences, you can compare the image results for the query "Tiananmen" between regular (U.S.) Google and Google China. There are a few important points that people seem to have made either explicitly or by implication in this discussion, that I'd like to challenge. 新年快乐 to those celebrating the Year of the Dog, by the way.

Stephen Harper's natal chart
For the 2004 Canadian election, I spent quite a lot of time putting together an astrological analysis of the candidates and the influences on the result. That was fun, and I know a number of people were hoping I'd do the same for the current (January 2006) election; but unfortunately, I've been going through a very busy time with schoolwork and other things, and I just didn't have time. As I write this, it's now the night before the election, and I couldn't possibly do a prediction before the result will be announced and the result isn't even in much doubt anyway, so there's not much point. However, it was pointed out to me with the 2004 analysis that I had Stephen Harper's birthdate wrong, and since he looks likely to be a key figure in the near future, it seems worth doing a natal chart on him with the correct birthdate. The ugly woman
Many years ago I met a woman who was hired as a contractor by the place I worked at the time.  My first impression of her was that she was extremely physically unattractive; but I thought about it a bit more because anyone who is extreme in any way is interesting, and I came to some realizations that seemed to me to be pretty important.
